Peacefully, with his family by his side, at Parkwood Institute,
London, on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, William Donald "Pete" Schussler in
his 96th year. Beloved husband and best friend for 51 years of
Doreen (Murphy). Dear father of Debra (Pat) Patton, Bill Schussler
and Deborah (Dave) Baldwin. Loving grandfather of Jesse Patton,
Melissa Baker (Cory), Sarah Egan and great-grandfather of Timothy
Egan, Douglas Miller and Sheleigh Baker. Cherished brother of Walter
(Vivian 2007). Predeceased by his parents Archie (1975) and Doris
(1982), his father-in-law Ernest Murphy (1956), his mother-in-law
Hazel Murphy (1990), his brothers and sisters-in-law Gerald Murphy
(1997) and Betty (2015), Bill Murphy (1969) and Norine (2019). Also
lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Bill was born on July 1, 1925 in London, Ontario. He started his
military career in 1941 with the Militia. He enlisted in the
Canadian Armed Forces on July 20, 1942, as an Infantry Man with the
Lincoln & Welland Regiment. He served in England, France, Belgium,
Holland and Germany. He was discharged on March 12, 1946, at the age
of 21. Bill re-enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces on July 9, 1948
with the RCEME as a motor vehicle mechanic. He served in Korea from
1951 until 1952 and with Peacekeeping tours in the Middle East
(Egypt) and with NATO in Germany. Bill's 16 honours and awards
include the "Order of Military Merit" and he was honoured to receive
the "Knighthood" with the "National Order of the Legion of Honour"
for his service during the Liberation of France in 1944.

Bill was an active Member of the following organizations: the Lincoln
and Welland Regiment Association, 427 Wing (RCAF) Association,
Remember November 11 Association and the London Old Timers Sports
Association. Playing hockey and refereeing became an important part
of Bill's retirement activities. He spent over 60 years in the sport,
many of those years with the London Huff and Puff organization.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the
staff of the 6th floor Palliative Care unit of Victoria Hospital and
to the 4th floor Palliative Care unit of Parkwood Institute as well
as staff Maria, Daniela, Catherine and Susan, and to the Parkwood
Institute Medical Team including Dr. Anita Singh, Dr. Young, Dr.
Malik, and Dr. Peter Wong.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
(www.cancer.ca) or the charity of one's choice. Due to Covid-19
restrictions a private Funeral Service in the Chapel of the O'Neil
Funeral Home, London, with Father Augustine Ogundele officiating,
will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m..
