HOLMES, William John "Bill"With his loving family at his side, Bill passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London on Sunday, February 8, 2015, William "Bill" John Holmes at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband of Catherine "Kay" (Vowles) Holmes for 56 years in a wonderful and loving adventure together. Very dear and proud father of Christine Brush (Warren Hoy) of London, Marina Gibala (Joe) of Kingsville, Jim (Micheline) of Windsor, late Teresa "Terry" Drouillard (Ray) of Amherstburg, Bill (Shelia) of London, Scott (Deb Bloor) of McGregor, Catherine Bondy (Michael) of Essex and Meg Mitchell (John) of Harrow. Loving grandfather of Danielle (Matt), Melissa, Tanya (Jon), Tara, Michael (Jocelyn), David (Jocelyne), Bill, Catherine (Peter), Amanda (Gaspar), Matthew (Shannon), Leighton, Cassie, Jason and Kymber. Great-granddad of Kaeden, Carys, Torrun, Nicolas, Natalie and Nathan. Bill was born on April 2, 1937 in Smiths Falls, ON to the late John and Irene Holmes. Dear brother of Marina Darragh (Alfred) and Mary Dickson (late Bill). Son-in-law of the late Arthur and Louie Vowles. Brother-in-law of Keith Vowles (Sue) of Grimsby, Dorothy Irwin (Norm) of Salt Spring Island, BC, Margaret Vowles of Hamilton and the late Jim and Donna Vowles of Sarnia. Predeceased by his grandchildren Russell (2000) and Stephanie (2002). Bill spent most of his life working in the Windsor and Essex area for Allied Chemical, Windsor Western Hospital and finishing his career as Director of Engineering at Windsor Casino. He had very rewarding years with the militia in Windsor, Essex and Chatham - Kent areas retiring with the rank of Major. Visitors will be received in theO'Neil Funeral Home350 William St., Londonon Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Mary Immaculate Church, (1980 Trafalgar St., London) on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London.
