With profound sadness and great love, we mourn the passing of Viriato Mendonça at the age of 89 years old. Viriato is survived by his loving wife Arlete, his proud and only son Frank, and his daughter-in-law Carmela. Much loved and adored ‘Papa’ of Matthew and Brandon (Lucy). Loved by his sisters Hilda (late Jose), Connie (late Denis), Carmelia (late Zulmir) and Natalia (late Norberto), and his brother Manuel (Marilda). Also loved by sister-in-law Hilda (late Jose) and brother-in-law Antonio (Maria). Survived by many nieces and nephews.
A devoted husband and father, Viriato cherished being around his loving family. He also enjoyed traveling abroad and his yearly visits to Sao Miguel (Azores), Portugal. He was a regular parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church for over fifty years, serving as Eucharistic Minister for the sick and singing in the church choir. Best remembered as a kind, honest, and gentle soul, Viriato will be deeply missed by family and friends.
