It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and devoted husband, Ted Johnston.
Ted passed away peacefully on September 19th, as the eastern star shone bright. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Affectionately known to many as Teddy J, Ted was truly one of a kind. From his childhood on the family farm in Port Lambton, Ontario, to his adventurous twenties hitchhiking across North America, he embraced life with a special joie de vivre and sincerity. It was one special trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that brought him to meet the love of his life, Kath McCann, it was love at first sight.
Ted and Kath built a warm and loving home in a small faith-based community in London, Ontario, where they raised their seven children: Jake, Molly (James), Megan (Frank), Jesse, Rosie (Mike), Claire (Ian), and Lizzie (Mike).
Their home was always filled with music, laughter, and the gentle reminder of being grateful for the simple gift of being alive.Ted lived a life full of adventure, hard work, and compassion. Whether he was sharing stories from his youth, playing guitar, offering advice, or simply sitting with you in silence, his presence was a gift to all who knew him.
Ted was a cherished Son to the late Bernard and Markie Johnston, brother to Bill (Elana) Johnston, Tim Johnston (Tree McCann), Biddo (Bernie) Hagan, and the late Nick (Patti) Johnston. He was also a proud grandfather to Ameila, Ella, Owen, Liam, Emmy and Max, each of whom brought him immense joy!
In recent years, Ted faced the challenges of early-onset Frontal Temporal Dementia with grace and courage. Though the journey was difficult, his spirit remained strong, and his love for his family never wavered.
