Rima Golovchenko

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Rima (née Rayew) Golovchenko in her 90th year on April 24, 2024. As a devoted wife to Alex Golovchenko (2020) for 67 years, Rima earned her angel wings on the date of their 71st wedding anniversary. Dedicated mother to sons Eugene (2014) (Michelle) of London and Alexander (Marianne) of Orillia, and loving Baba to grandsons Christopher of Toronto, and Kyle (Monica) and Sasha (Kyla) of London. Rima also welcomed two beautiful great-grandchildren, Oscar and Mia, in 2020, and will be remembered by Maureen (Philip) Spencer Golovchenko. Rima is survived by her brother Igor (Irene) Rayew, nieces Tanya Rayew and Larissa (Shawn) Hatt, great-nephew Michael (Alicia) Hatt and their sons Julian and Oliver, as well as great-niece Cassandra (Danny) Hatt. Rima will also be missed by brothers-in-law Igor (Violet) and Guy Golovchenko, and nieces/nephews Anya, Susanna, Greg, Phillip, Matthew, Shawna and extended family. To all who knew her, Rima was a vibrant, caring, generous person and a super hostess. She loved long walks, sweet treats, reading and music. In retirement, Rima and Alex enjoyed lots of travel, as well as annual winters in Florida.

 Rima’s visitation and funeral will both be held at the Russian Orthodox Church of Christ The Saviour at 140 Fairview Ave, London. Visitation is Sunday, April 28 from 6:00 - 8:00  pm. The funeral is Monday, April 29 at 10:00 am., followed by interment in Woodland Cemetery, London.

Thanks to Reverend Vladimir Morin, along with health teams at Mount Hope Long Term Care (St. Mary’s) and Queen’s Village for their support of Rima in recent years.
