Olga Conceicao Dias

1937 — January 1, 2019

Olga Dias. May 3, 1937 (Samuel, Portugal) – March 20, 2019 (McGarrell Place, London). Olga passed into the Kingdom of Heaven surrounded by family. Family was everything to Olga. Beloved sister of Maria Adelaide Coutinho and Ilidio Dias, of London, and doting aunt to many, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces/nephews, and their families in London, Portugal and abroad; she is predeceased by her parents, Preciosa and Augusto, and siblings Jose, Augusto, Margarida and Preciosa. The Dias and Coutinho families were blessed to have had Olga's generous and loving attention throughout our lives. Olga will also be much missed by her friends and adopted families, including the Jevnikars, who were especially caring in the last years of her life. Olga was a devout Catholic; her faith her guiding beacon, and daily mass at St. Peter's and other parishes an important connection to God and her community. Olga was the keeper of birthdays, sending cards - always well in advance - to dozens of people each year. She learned to ride a bike in her 30s, and was a committed commuter cyclist, riding in all seasons into her late 70s. She will be fondly remembered for many things, not least of which: her incredible generosity, her prodigious memory for Portuguese folk songs, her wry sense of humour, and her love of children. Olga, you will be dearly missed. May your soul rest in peace with God. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Ave. ,on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., followed by entombment in St. Peter's Cemetery, London.
