Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 5, 2023 we lost the matriarch of our family, our dear Nicolina Benfeito in her 84th year. She is now reunited with the love of her life Humberto Benfeito. She is also reunited with her parents Manuel and Liberta Lima, her brother Joe Lima, her brother-in-laws, Evaristo Benfeito, Manuel Benfeito, Manuel Camara, Jose Camara, Manuel Branco, Alberto Furtado and her sister-in-laws, Ilda Benfeito, Aldina Camara, Conceicao De Lima and Maria Benfeito. She will be dearly missed by her children Ann Moniz (Mario), Dan Benfeito (Nellie) and Patty Benfeito (Tim Welch). She will forever live in the hearts of her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lisa Castelhano (Roberto), Tracey Neves (Paulo), Nick Moniz (Alyssa), Danielle Benfeito (Brad Lampman), Kennedi Benfeito, Matthew and Mitchell Aldrich, Nina, Olivia, Matea, Ava, Liliana, Noah and Scarlett. Survived by her siblings, Tiago De Lima, Maria Jose Camara, Manuel Lima (Ester), Esmeralda Branco and Jack Lima (Maria), also sister-in-laws Irene Lima, Herondina Furtado and Uriana Andrade (Jeramias) as well as many nieces, nephews and dear cousins. After immigrating from Sao Miguel, Acores, Nicolina dedicated her life to her family. Nicolina was the glue that held her family together, always making sure they had everything they needed and were always fed. She is a shining example of hard work and how to love endlessly. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nursing staff at Victoria hospital involved with Nicolina’s care. Special thank you to Dr.Cookson at Victoria Medical Centre for her care and hard work with Nicolina over the years. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Visitors will be received in the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St., London on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 4 -7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, 10 Elm St. at Hamilton Rd. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.; followed by entombment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London.
