Maria Regina Melo

Maria Regina Melo passed peacefully with her loving family by her side, at Henley Place, London, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 80, just days before her 81st birthday.

Devoted wife to the late Benjamin for 60 wonderful years. Cherished mother of Isabel Teixeira (Gilbert) and Frank Melo (Angela). Adored grandmother of Kierstin Melo (Peter), Madison Melo, Vanessa Teixeira, and James Teixeira.

Dear sister-in-law of Manuel Melo, Antonio Melo, and Maria Oliveira.

Maria Regina is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Benjamin (2025), her sons Manuel (1967) and Paul (1986), her parents Ezequiel de Paiva Oliveira (1978) and Maria dos Anjos Bernardo (2003), her brother Emanuel Bernardo Oliveira (2004), and her sisters-in-law Águeda de Medeiros Melo (2016) and Maria Helena Amaral (2014).

She will be forever remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends across Canada, Portugal, and the United States.Born on the island of São Miguel, Azores, Maria Regina came to Canada with Benjamin to build a new life together. A devoted wife and mother, she was the quiet strength behind her family, always putting her loved ones before herself. She supported Benjamin through every dream and venture, standing beside him with unwavering loyalty and love.

Maria Regina was a hardworking woman whose life centered on family, faith, and service to others. She found joy in cooking meals that brought her loved ones together and tending her garden with patience and care. Her kitchen was always warm, her door always open, and her heart always full.Her greatest legacy is the family she raised with such devotion. Her children and grandchildren carry forward the values of love, hard work, and faith that she and Benjamin instilled in them.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Henley Place in Victoria wing for their compassionate care and kindness shown to Maria Regina.

Visitors will be received in O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Visitation will be held in St. Michael's Church, 511 Cheapside St, London, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m., and will be followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 11:00 a.m.    Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, London.
