Manuel Almeida

Manuel Almeida, best known as “Gites”, passed away on February 25th, 2023, in Victoria
Hospital surrounded by family after his long battle with liver cancer.

Manuel was born on February 22nd, 1963 and had just celebrated his 60th birthday. He was born in Seixo, Portugal,
and after serving 3 years in the military there he made the move to Canada in December 1989,
to raise his family. During this time he worked in construction until his retirement in 2018.
Manuel enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time, and bbqing for his family and friends.

Manuel married his wife Alice in 1986, and had two sons, Pedro Almeida (Melissa McIsaac) and
Jason Almeida (Kala Arbuckle). Manuel was predeceased by his Mother Maria Dos Angos
Domingues and Father Silvestre Almeida. He is survived by his four sisters, Madalena Silva,
Celeste Silva, Fatima Silva, and Alice Silva. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and
nephews, and friends in both Canada and Portugal.

Visitors will be received  in the O’Neil Funeral Home, London,  Ontario on Wednesday, March 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Holy Cross Church , London, Ontario on Wednesday  at 11:00am.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society for liver cancer research at www.cancer.ca
