Lina Guglielmi

Feb 1, 1937 — Aug 14, 2026

London, Ontario

Lina Guglielmi (nee Bove), 89, passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on August 14, 2026. Surrounded by the love of her family. Beloved wife of the late Antonio (Tony) Guglielmi (2023) of almost 69 years. Wonderful mother and best friend to her daughter Maria (Tony) Scarpelli and the late Attilio (Leo) Guglielmi (2019). Loving and caring Grandmother of Austin (Shannon) Scarpelli and Anthony (Lauren) Scarpelli. Proud Great-Grandmother of Dominic, Brooklyn, Arya and Luca. Predeceased by her parents Pelino and Laura Bove. Loving sister to Rosina (late Severino Tancredi 2026 & late Enrico Notarandrea 1982), Quintino (MaryLou) Bove and Louisa (Paolo) Testa. Sister-in-law to the late Lucia (late Steve) Hlywa, late Michelina (late Camillo) Terracina. Survived by her brother-in-law Pasquale (late Pietrina) Guglielmi and sister-in-law Emilia (late Domenico) Longo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Lina's family, the Bove's were one of the first families to immigrate to Canada (London) in 1951 and helped many new immigrants from Italy get acclimatized and adapt to a new country. Lina started school in 1951 then soon after started working at McCormick's where she eventually became president of the union. Lina was very devoted to the Madonna Della Libera / Our Lady of Freedom and one of the original organizers of this festival for almost 60 years, a beautiful tradition from her homeland Pratola Peligna Italy that is continued to be celebrated annually here in London. As a pillar of her church community Lina was very spiritual and a faithful and devoted part of the rosary/prayer group, where she had a special bond with this special group of ladies; they prayed together, sang together and shared a coffee while having a laugh or two.

A proud member of the CWL at St. Martin’s Church for over 55 years, Lina enjoyed playing Euchre with her card buddies from St. Martin's and St. John the Divine. She always looked forward to a weekly Sunday card game of Briscola with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Lina also enjoyed bowling weekly with church friends, enjoyed travelling with her husband Tony and her family, she loved tending to her garden and grapes and was proud of the harvest from it, but cooking was her passion.

She enjoyed a drive to Port Stanley for some fries at Mackie’s. She would make you laugh with a joke or two. Lina's two grandsons Austin & Anthony (and their families) were her pride and joy; always sprinting into action cooking and making her delicious sauce, pasta and meatballs when the phone rang hearing "hi Grandma we're coming over". Her door was always open for anyone to drop by to share a cup of coffee or a meal together. Lina always looked forward to her daily 7am coffee time with her cherished neighbours George & Jill, where they created a book together called "Ask The Phone".

Lina was always the first to step up if someone needed help. Lina enjoyed volunteering for many years at Ronald McDonald House with a lovely group of ladies preparing meals. She will be sadly missed by everyone. Brings us solace knowing she is having coffee in heaven with her husband Tony and son Leo.
