Joan Elizabeth Shewaga

Joan Elizabeth Shewaga passed away on Tuesday, June 30th, in her 86th year at Henley Place Nursing Home, London. Born in Enfield, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Harry & Marguerite O'Neill. She was the beloved wife of John (2004). Joan will be dearly missed by her children Jacquie (Mike), Jeff (Mich), Johnny (Dora) & Jamie (Shannon), her 12 grandchildren: Michael (Angi), Daryl (Tina), Mandy (Shane), Sara (Jarred), JJ (Sarah), Jessie (Nestor), Trevor (Sly), Kate (Jordan), Jamie (Britnee), Rob, Megan (Justin) & Drew and her 12 great-grandchildren: Jordan (Tim), Taylor (Brock), Cody, Tanner, Keira, Penny, Memphis, Luka, Mercer, Cylus, Bella & Margot as well as 3 great-great grandchildren: James, Elise & Sterling. Joan was predeceased by her brothers Doug and Jerome and her sisters Winnie, Ethel & Avis. She is survived by her brother Jim and her sisters Patty, Peggy & Deen.

Joan's life was centered around her family who believed she could cook or sew anything and fix everything. Her grandchildren will always remember fun-loving, energetic Nanny Joan, who always had open arms and a full cookie jar. Although Alzheimer's disease faded her memory, she still smiled and could always make her visitors laugh with a witty comment or funny face.
