It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of James Alexander Short on April 2, 2023, at his home in London.
Predeceased by parents Lewis Alexander and Margaret Ann Short as well as his brother Michael Douglas Short, he was the fond father of Alec and Costello, and will be greatly missed by his sisters Kathy Brown and Vickie Oleksinski.
Jamie grew up between Owen Sound and Port Elgin, where he enjoyed a small harbour town life of fishing, boating and barbequing. Moving to London the second he could, he found the call of the stage. A talented musician, he became well known in the local music scene, playing many venues in London over the years. From open mic nights to solo acoustic shows, to passionately fronting The Carnies, Jaime’s infectious energy would uplift any crowd. Jaime’s presence will also be remembered on the east coast, where he lived and continued to play his music for seven years before eventually returning to the city he loved. He was fortunate to have a wide circle of friends who appreciated his kindness, his gentle, generous nature, and his goofy sense of humour.
A Memorial Service of Jamie’s life will be held at Wesley Knox United Church located in London (91 Askin Street) on Wednesday, April 12th at 4pm with a Celebration of Life being held shortly after at Joe Kools (595 Richmond Street) commencing at 6pm.
Jamie’s family would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and happy memories. We will all miss him so much.
Jaime was proud of his city and community so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The London Food Bank: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/930?v2=true
