Finding the words to thank those who tried so desperately to save Jalen's life is impossible. Those on scene, the London Police Department, paramedics, staff in the children's emergency department and the incredibly compassionate doctors, nurses and social workers within the pediatric Critical Care Unit. To Ray, thank you for your empathy, for sharing your tears and your prayers with our family. We will never forget the impact you had on our family during this time.
Jalen gave the gift of life through the donation of his organs; we would like to thank the Trillium network of nurses and surgeons for the care they showed us and for keeping us up to date on the progress of the recipients of Jalen's gifts.
There are times in life where you realize that you cannot do something alone, that you need someone to lean on when your too exhausted to think, someone who reminds you that you are stronger than you realize. I want to thank Therese Bain and Kim Vander Schelde (Hunter) for standing by us through the most difficult time of our lives, for reminding us that grief is a chronic condition that we learn to adapt to over time not overnight. I cannot imagine having had endured this time without your support.
To Simon and Jerome for keeping us grounded...True friendship!
Haley, Vaunn, Devlyn, Jeff, Holland and Miranda. Thank you for staying by his side, for being there for our family. Remember to lean on one another.
