Irena Trela

Peacefully, at Peoplecare Oakcrossing, London, on Thursday, May 14, 2020, Irena Trela in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Kazimierz Trela (2003). Loving mother of John Trela (Barbara) and Joseph Trela (Irene). Dear grandmother of Michael (Mary Kate), Daniel (Amy), Adam (Jess) and Benjamin (Adrianna). Great-grandmother of Daniel, Molly, Eva and Abel. Irena was preceded in death by her parents Stanislaw and Marianna, her brother Stanislaw and her daughter Helena. Irena was a survivor of WW2 forced labour camps, a breast cancer survivor, a devote Catholic, and one who was actively involved in the Polish community as a member of the Catholic Women's League, the Polish Senior's Club, the Polish National Association and the Polish Combatants Association. She worked at Western University for over 30 years, in the kitchens and student residences, and had accumulated many fond memories and made many friends before her retirement in 1987. The family of Irena would like to express their sincere appreciation for the kind and loving care Irena received from Peoplecare Oakcrossing over the ten years she was in their care; we will miss everyone there. The arrangements and interment service in St. Peter's Cemetery, London will be held privately. Arrangements to honour her life will be held later when possible.
