It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Zia Genoveffa, in her 91st year, affectionately known as “Fifi”.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Ida Circelli and many adoring nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Luigi Circelli and Maria Assunta Palumbo, by her brothers Antonio (Carmela), Nicola (Antonietta), Salvatore (Maria), her sister Rosalia (Giuseppe), brother Carmine, her niece Assunta Monaco and young nephew Tony Circelli.Born in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy on January 3, 1936.
Genoveffa emigrated to Canada through Halifax, Nova Scotia to be closer to her siblings.
She lived most of her life with her brother Nicola and sister-in-law Antonietta.
She worked until her retirement at Dutch Laundry and kept busy sewing and doing alterations for family and friends.
She was always quick to give marriage advice and would say, though, that she was no expert given that she had never married.
She had an infectious laugh and professed that she was very lucky and blessed to have led the life that she did.
One of Genoveffa’s greatest qualities was her belief in servitude. She felt privileged to assist in the care of her young nieces and nephews, when the need was there. She cared for her beloved sister-in-law after her brother Nicola passed away; and when that concluded she lovingly assisted her cousin for many years. One of her many attributes is that she was a giving person to family and friends.
The family is thankful for the loving care and compassion shown to Genoveffa by her caregivers and nurses on Maple unit; the staff and Dr. Crabbe at Southbridge London, Long Term Care Home; the staff and Dr. He at Victoria Hospital; and to her friends, neighbours and family who provided companionship and hospitality throughout her life.
