It is with profound sadness and broken hearts, the family of Filomena Teixeira Liberato Silva announce her peaceful passing in her 100th year, surrounded by her children at her care giver and daughter Julia’s home in London on Friday July 5, 2024.
As the beloved wife of the late Joaquim Silva (2000) she joins him in eternal peace. Dearest mother of Mario Silva (Alice), Julia Da Fonseca (Jim - 2021), Fernando DaSilva (Alcinda), Tina Fraley, Tony Silva (Sherrie), Zita Valente (José), and Jorge Silva (Cindy). Cherished and loved grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Filomena is survived by her siblings Eduardo Liberato (Fátima), José Liberato (Lucilia), Julia Silva (Domingos - 1997), Conceicao Machado (Marcelino - 1999), and Fatima Machado (Carlos). Predeceased by her parents Belmiro and Rosalina Liberato, and her siblings Roque Liberato, Arminda Estrela, and Lurdes Fernandes. Filomena also leaves behind extended family in Canada, Portugal, Germany and France.
Filomena and Joaquim immigrated to Canada from Portugal in 1967 with their children. Filomena was an avid gardener, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was committed to her faith. One of her greatest joys was to entertain, cook and spend time with family and friends. As a long time member of the Portuguese club she enjoyed volunteering, dancing and spending time with everyone.
The family would like to thank the many people who made it possible for her to stay comfortable this past year in her daughter Julia’s home. Special thanks to PSW’s Divina, Shea, and Bukky and nurse’s Judy, Alexandria and Selena. Special thanks to Dr. Faulds for your amazing care.
Visitors will be received on Tuesday, 9 July 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St., London.Visitation will continue on Wednesday, 10 July, in Holy Cross Church, 10 Elm Street, London, from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11;00 a.m., followed by internment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, ON.
