Ernesto Valerio Moniz

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Ernesto Valerio Moniz passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the age of 86 years old.  Beloved husband of Maria Da Graca, married for over 66 years.  Cherished papai of Filomena Pacheco, Ricardo Moniz (Kathy) and Vera Lamoureux (David).  Adored vovo of Kevin Pacheco (Melissa), Ashley Simmons (Sheldon), Jeff Baxter (Kelly), Nathan Moniz (Sarah), Kristin Duque (Pablo), and Alex Baxter (fiancée Karah Blandford).  

Dear brother of Matilda Garrafa (Jose) of Bermuda and dear sister-in-law’s Monica Rafeiro, Ana Elias and Teresa Demelo. Proud big vovo of Logan, Selena, Rielly, Sophia, Beckham, Isla, Lincoln, Evelyne and baby Duque. He will be fondly remembered by numerous nephews and nieces in Canada, Bermuda, Brazil, Sao Miguel and the USA.  Loved by his godson, Joaquim Fernandez of B.C. Predeceased by his siblings Adelina Araujo, Jose Vicente Moniz, Lourdes Vieira, Maria do Carmo, son-in-law Jose Pacheco and great grandson Xavier Pacheco.

Ernesto cherished the family get togethers and taught the next generation to make feijoada. Ernesto was a proud past member of the Portuguese Marching Band and his face lit up when playing an instrument.  He will be missed by his Wednesday morning coffee friends.

Friends and family are invited for visitation in the  O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m.  Private family interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London.
