London

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Rudha Al-Husaini (Al-Rohani), who peacefully departed in the early hours of Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family in his home in London, Ontario.

Since his diagnosis in July of 2023,  Rudha valiantly confronted a rare and aggressive form of late-stage cancer with unwavering grace, patience, and an indomitable spirit, exploring every avenue of treatment until his final moments.

Born in Najaf, Iraq, Rudha's journey traversed through four years in humanitarian camps in the Saudi Arabian desert before finding refuge in London, Ontario, Canada with his family in 1995. His resolute determination and tireless work ethic propelled him to academic excellence, culminating in the completion of his undergraduate, master's, and dentistry degrees.

Rudha's union with the love of his life, Masooma, on May 24, 2004, marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with devotion and shared dreams. Together, they navigated the complexities of life, marrying young and nurturing their two sons, Hadi and Hashim, through the challenges of academia while fostering an enduring love that celebrated its 20th anniversary just weeks ago. The love between “Honeybun and Pumpkin” remains an unbreakable bond.

As a dedicated dentist,  Rudha served with distinction at St. Joseph’s Dental Clinic in London and Petrolia Dentistry in Petrolia, Ontario, where his meticulous care and compassionate demeanour endeared him to colleagues, staff, and patients alike. Renowned for his impeccably styled "Johnny Bravo" hair, he approached each interaction with warmth, humour, and genuine concern for the well-being of those under his care, often extending his support beyond office hours to ensure their comfort and peace of mind, often equipped with a witty, humorous remark.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Rudha possessed an uncanny ability to forge deep connections with individuals from all walks of life and ages, leaving an indelible mark of friendship and inspiration wherever he went. His commitment to the Al-Mahdi Centre Mosque community manifested in various leadership roles within the local mosque, particularly as the mosque’s resident reciter, where his melodious voice and unwavering faith resonated for over 15 years, touching the hearts of countless souls and embodying the essence of compassion and service. https://www.youtube.com/@sayidridhaalhusaini.

Rudha was incredibly devoted as a brother, son, father, and husband, and his family was incredibly important to him, but  Rudha's profound impact extended far beyond the confines of his immediate circle, encompassing strangers, friends, and extended family.. He was the soul of his community and served as a mentor, guidance counsellor, career coach, father-figure, and dear friend to so many. Whether extending a helping hand to newcomers in the community or comforting the ailing with boundless empathy, he exemplified the virtues of kindness, generosity, and familial love that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever echo in the hearts of his cherished wife, Masooma Khawaja, and their sons, Hashim (18) and Hadi (10) Al-Rohani, including his parents, Mejeed Al-Rohani and Naema Al-Husaini, mother-in-law, Samira Abbas Kazmi, and late father-in-law, Khawaja Ghulam Abbas.

In addition, Rudha will be greatly missed by his loving family including:

Beloved sisters Amina and Zainab and brothers Murtadha, Ameen, Ali, and sister-in-laws Fatima, Farwa, and Zahra and Abbey.

Dearest nieces Safiyya, Leila, and Noor Al-Zahra.

Rudha's departure leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, yet his enduring spirit and boundless love serve as guiding beacons of hope and inspiration for all who were touched by his presence.

A funeral service, attended by over 400 mourners from family and the religious community, was held at the Islamic Cemetery of London on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, as a testament to the immense impact of Rudha's life and legacy. Plans for a memorial gathering to honour his memory are currently underway, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.

In remembrance of  Rudha's generous spirit, friends and loved ones are invited to contribute to his favourite charities, causes he dedicated himself to supporting throughout his lifetime. Your support will honour his legacy of compassion and commitment to serving others:
