Arnold Herman Marsman left this world peacefully on December 23, 2025 in his 91st year. Predeceased by his loving wife Frances (nee Dalton). Cherished father of Maria Price (Jeff), Kathleen Marsman (Allan Brett), Arnie (Charlene) and Mike. Proud Opa of Jocelyn Price and Shannon O’Beid (Jonathan), Ella and Dylan Brett, Luke (Jordann) and Carley Marsman, and Shawn and Charlotte Marsman. Great Opa of JJ O’Beid. Arnold was predeceased by his parents Herman and Arnolda, as well as his siblings Ben, Marie Miltenburg, Joke, Dien Miltenburg and Jan. Survived by siblings Nan Debruyn, Tonia Poirer, Herman, Nolda and Tony (Abbe). He is lovingly remembered by many of his Dalton in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Arnold was born in Wijk Bij Duurstede, The Netherlands in 1935. At the age of 16, he made the brave journey to Canada on his own. It was in Kingsbridge Ontario that he met the love of his life, Frances, in the church choir. Through hard work, determination, a strong faith in God and great love of family, they created the life that Arnold dreamed of as a young man.
Arnold spent his working career in the construction industry, and was very proud of the 50 years he worked for his brother Tony with Rembrandt Homes. He was a lifelong and devout member of Mary Immaculate Parish. Arnold was a fabulous cook. He loved his vegetable garden, caring for his yard and nurturing his indoor plants. He was an insatiable walker, and walked up to 5 km per day well past his 85th year. He loved family gatherings and was an incredible Opa. He was a nurturing caregiver and fierce advocate for his wife Frances in the years before she passed (2020). He was truly an incredible man and will be dearly missed.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Mary Immaculate Church (1980 Trafalgar at Admiral) Church, London, on Tuesday, 30 December 2025 at 11:00 a.m, with visitation in the church one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, ON.
