Passed away peacefully at University Hospital in London, Ontario on Saturday, May 9, 2026, Agostinho “Auggie” Furtado de Melo in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of the late Maria da Conceiçao de Melo (2016).
Loving father of Maria de Melo Kavanagh (John) and Delia de Melo. Grandfather of Alannah Kavanagh (Kyle), Julia Kavanagh (Joel), Zachary Burden (Catherine) and Thalia Burden. Great-grandfather (Bisavó) of Ellis and Mason. Brother of Angelo de Melo, Eduarda Cruz, Lida Medeiros (Joao), Zelia Melo and Natividade Soares (Januario). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Agostinho and Maria de Lima and his brothers Eduardo, Jose and Manuel de Melo.
Agostinho was a proud 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus - Holy Cross Parish and a member of the London Portuguese Romeiros.
Visitors will be received in the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. There will be no public visitation in the Funeral Home on Thursday morning prior to the Funeral Mass.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, 10 Elm Street at Hamilton Road, London on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., followed by entombment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London.
Agostinho’s family would like to thank the Staff at Glendale Crossing Retirement Home for the affection, warmth and care given to Agostinho during his time with them. Also a thank you to the Intensive Care Unit at LHSC - University Hospital for their impeccable care of their dad.
